Coronavirus Information & Resources

Covid-19 Community Response

Kirklees Council are working alongside citizens and local organisations to make sure that together we can all support our neighbours and communities over the coming weeks. They're working especially closely with voluntary sector partners. Together they're offering a co-ordinated Community Response. This will help us all to make sure that people can easily request help when needed. They're also offering support for local groups and organisations to make sure that we can all help each other in our local places.

If you need support, or if you can offer support, please get in touch via the link below. We are all in this together!

    Key Workers
Good morning, Following the receipt of government guidance about school closures, we are in a better position to give you more information. The list of key workers includes: * NHS workers (doctors, nurses, care workers, Healthcare Assistants, paramedics) * Education staff (nursery and teaching staff) * food production and delivery * police, fire and rescue service employees * transport service workers (air, water, road and rail) If you think you fall under one of these categories, you MUST email school by 12.00 MIDDAY TODAY on schoolclosure@paddockjinschool.co.uk. If we do not hear from you before this deadline, we will not be able to accommodate your child. The guidance makes clear, if children can stay at home then those arrangements MUST be made to avoid the spread of disease. CHILDREN MUST ONLY ATTEND IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY! Public Health England guidance states that schools must not take more than 20% of their overall intake during this time. This is to keep children, staff, parents and the community safe and well. We appreciate your support and understanding in this unprecedented time and thank you for your ongoing support.

    School Closure Update
As advised by the government, we will do all we can to stay open for the children of key workers (eg. NHS staff, police and delivery drivers), vulnerable children and those with an allocated social worker. We are waiting for the government to publish more information on what this means, but it would help us in the meantime if you could let us know if you think your child may fall into one of these categories. Please send an email to schoolclosure@paddockjinschool.co.uk with details of the adults in the household for whom this applies and their occupation, please include your child's name and class. We'll be in touch again as soon as we are sure who this does apply to. All other children will need to stay at home, so we ask that you do not send your child into school from Monday onwards. Please note that this is a national closure - as you will have heard in the news - so while it is a challenging situation, we are not alone. We'll re-open as soon as we can and will let you know when this is. If your child usually receives free school meals, we will also be in touch with more information about how we will continue to provide this, with support from a scheme that the government has announced. This is as much as we know right now and we appreciate your continued patience as we deal with this ever-changing situation. We understand that this latest news will have an impact on you and your family and it is far from ideal, but we'll continue to keep in touch with any updates as the situation develops. Thank you again for your continued support.

    Home Learning - further information
All children have already been provided with work to complete in the event of school closure. They will already have the following: - Purple Mash log in details (where teachers will set tasks to complete but they can also access other games and quizzes) - ClassDojo pupil accounts - Paper, home learning packs I have attached a daily timetable that you may choose to use to guide your child's learning at home. During the ‘topic learning’ and ‘creative time’ they may choose to create a project around an area that they are really interested in. They could research the topic and report their findings. They could make a short film, design a set of revision cards to share with their friends. They could make a model, write a song or poem linked to the topic! It could also be a time to get your very own Blue Peter Badge – see the link below for more information! Important Coronavirus update - 16.03.20
The Government advice continues to be to stay home if you are displaying Coronavirus symptoms. If ANYONE in your household has any of the following symptoms, you should ALL self-isolate (stay at home) for 14 days; * a high temperature * a new, continuous cough Please do not bring your child(ren) to school if any of them are displaying any of the above symptoms. During the school day, if your child is displaying any of these symptoms, we will phone you to collect them and all siblings. YOU and YOUR FAMILY will need to self-isolate for 14 days. Thank you for continued support.

Home learning in the event of school closure
Attached is information for your child to access Purple Mash at home. We have recently invested in this online learning platform with a view to developing its use across the curriculum in the coming months. We are hoping that, in the event of school closure, pupils will be able to access a range of activities to support them with their learning. Staff will endeavour to set work for children to access in the 2Do section and it may be that, over time, more activities will be added in other areas. Your child will be bringing home their Purple Mash log ins in the next few days. It would be useful if parents and carers could log in to Purple Mash as per the instructions on the attached letter and familiarise themselves with the '2Dos' section. This link will give you additional information: https://2simple.com/purple-mash/purple-mash-parents/ I would ask that, at this time, pupils do not complete any of the tasks as these have been allocated only for use in the event of the school being closed and school staff are also endeavouring to plan for the usual school day as well as a potential school closure.
