Paddock Junior Infant and Nursery School

The Pupil Premium is the name of the fund given directly to schools to support students from low-income families, or who are in public care, These funds are in addition to the main school budget and are allocated on the basis of the number of students who qualify for Pupil Premium assistance.

The purpose of the funding is to ensure that these children and young people are not disadvantaged in school and to find ways to support them to do their best.  Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit,  but the aim is always to narrow the achievement gap between these students and their peers.

Schools are held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families.  Measures included in the performance tables capture the achievement of those deprived pupils covered by the Pupil Premium.  Schools are also required to publish online information about how they have used the Premium to ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium.
